Last Saturday afternoon, the Glengarry Highlanders peewee 'C' girls hockey team hosted the Gloucester Cumberland Stars. Images from the action can be viewed in our online gallery here.

The 36th annual AJK Highland Travellers men’s recreational hockey tournament is set to hit the Maxville ice on Jan. 26, in support of the fight against cancer.
The day-long action will see teams play a minimum of three games each, and supporters are welcome to attend to cheer on the skaters.

The county's junior 'B' hockey teams met in Alexandria on Jan. 11, and we have full coverage in this week's edition of The Glengarry News. An online photo gallery is available here.
The annual Finch Youth Broomball Tournament is taking place this weekend, with the action getting underway tonight, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. Games continue on Saturday, from 8 a.m. through 6:45 p.m., and then on Sunday, from 9 a.m. through 2:15 p.m.
The play includes athletes ranging in ages from 3 to 15.
Also this year, three elite men's teams – Lacombe's, the Ballbroomers, and the Ottawa Nationals – will showcase their skills in a trio of games.
Today in Alexandria, curlers from Glengarry, Char-Lan, Tagwi, and St. Joseph's took to the ice for some non-competitive training, in preparation for next month's SD&G championship bonspiel.

Alexandria's Felix Sauve, a defenceman with the U18 Hawkesbury Hawks, has been selected to play in the HEO league's all-star game, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m., in Kemptville. In 33 league games thus far this season Sauve has 25 points. He's also skated in 6 matches with the CCHL2 Alexandria Glens.
The game is being held as part of a Winter Showcase for the HEO and CCHL. Here's the day's full schedule.
The Battle of Glengarry will be renewed Friday night in Alexandria, where the Glens will host their southern rivals, the Char-Lan Rebels. Game time at the Glengarry Sports Palace is set for 8 p.m.
When last they met, Char-Lan edged Alexandria 2-1 in overtime. Earlier in the CCHL2 hockey season, the teams split two games.
The Rebels enter the Jan. 11 contest winless in 2019 and coming off a 2-0 loss to the league-leading Ottawa Canadians. The Glens, after starting the new year 0-2, picked up a shut-out victory last Sunday, 3-0 on the road against Perth, the first-place squad from the opposite division.
Friday night's action will be the lone game this week for the Alexandria boys, while Char-Lan is scheduled to play on home ice in Williamstown, Saturday evening, at 8 p.m., when the Winchester Hawks will provide the opposition.
