In Monday SDGAA high school junior boys basketball action at Tagwi, the host Warriors scored a 10-point win over Seaway, beating the Spartans 41-31 to wrap up regular-season play.
Playoffs will be next week, and as soon as we have details confirmed, we will post them online and/or in The Glengarry News.
Monday's senior boys basketball finale at Tagwi saw the host Warriors don the uniforms of some of their former players from the now-closed Rothwell-Osnabruck High School (Ingleside).

The Alexandria Glens of the CCHL2 will play a rare Tuesday night affair on home ice, tonight, Feb. 6, at the Glengarry Sports Palace, where the Perth Blue Wings will provide the opposition. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m.

Three days of action concludes today in the Business Bonspiel at the Lancaster Curling Club, and we will have the story in the next edition of The Glengarry News. In the meantime, we have photos from the action available in our online galleries here.
Each Thursday night through the winter, senior men's soccer teams take to the turf of the dome in Alexandria, and The Glengarry News provides coverage over the course of the season. We were there last Thursday and have an online photo gallery available here.

The Alexandria Glens of the CCHL2 are booked to make the trek south tonight, to take on the Char-Lan Rebels in round three of this season's Battle of Glengarry for the county's junior 'B' hockey teams.
The clubs split the first two games of the season series.
Last night, on home ice, the Glens fell in a shootout to the Renfrew Timberwolves, while the Rebels are coming off a road win Thursday night over the Ottawa West Golden Knights.
Game time for the Feb. 3 contest at the Char-Lan Rec. Centre is set for 8 p.m.

The junior 'A' Cornwall Colts will next see action on home ice Thursday, Feb, 1, when the team will host the Kanata Lasers, at 7:30 p.m.
Last Thursday night, the Colts prevailed in overtime 4-3 against Smiths Falls, as JD Pogue potted a pair of goals and chalked up an assist.
Josh Barnes had a goal and one helper. Tommy Tanner also scored. Liam Lascelle made 24 saves for the victory, as the Colts outshot the Bears 30-27.
For the second home game in a row, the Hardest Working Colts Player was the county's own Ethan Mulhearn. Three Stars were first JD Pogue (COR), second Josh Barnes (COR), and third Ethan Coltart (SF).
Prior to the game, Liam Lascelle was recognized for becoming the Cornwall Colts franchise leader in wins, saves, and games played. All three milestones were accomplished in the last month of Colts games.
Two days later in Ottawa, the Colts edged the Senators 2-1.
The team is scheduled to play tonight on the road, in Nepean to wrap up the January schedule.

Both the Alexandria Glens and Char-Lan Rebels host home games tonight in CCHL2 action.
The Glens, playing at the Glengarry Sports Palace, will entertain the Brockville Tikis at 8 p.m.
At the same time down south in Williamstown, the Rebels will host the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

Last week, Tagwi Intermediate School hosted the finals of the UC Cup volleyball tournament, for boys and girls from schools across the UCDSB. The girls tournament ran on Wednesday, followed by the boys competition Thursday, where the homecourt Warriors garnered bronze.
The next edition of The Glengarry News, to be published Jan. 31, will include photos and a story from the event, with full results.
The UC Cup (or Upper Canada Cup) is a sports event organized for schools in the Upper Canada District School Board. There are regional qualifier tournaments across the span of the board, followed by a final tournament in each of a range of sports. Glengarry District and Tagwi field teams for the UC Cup events, while Char-Lan does not, opting instead to focus on the non-competitive Family of Schools sports events.

Tagwi Intermediate School is hosting the Upper Canada Cup volleyball competition today (for girls) and tomorrow, Jan. 25, (for boys).
The Warriors were regional champs and are now vying for the UCDSB-wide title at the Grade 7 & 8 level.
Today's medal matches are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Tagwi's boys will be in action on Thursday, with games slated for 9 and 10 a.m. UC Cup semifinal action will go at 12:30 p.m., followed by the medal matches at 1:30 p.m.
